Taylor Swift is Cheer Captain and you're on the bleachers
Conservative media's bizarre player hating of one America's most profitable exports
I’m not sure what it was with the Super Bowl this year. Perhaps the commercials were boring (enough with the Temu), or the teams were too evenly matched, but it felt like nothing was really happening, even in overtime.
However, one of the funner and more memorable activities was the drinking game / gambling pool counting how often the TV would cut to scenes of Taylor Swift celebrating the annual reboot of her new boyfriend’s march to victory, archetypal all American football player and luscious brick of man meat, Travis Kelce, the tightest end this side of Kansas City.
Just a week before the Super Bowl, Taylor Swift was also in the public eye for being the first artist in history to win a fourth Grammy Award for album of the year, knocking Frank Sinatra, Stevie Wonder, and Paul Simon out of the picture with their measly 3 wins.
And just a few days prior to that, the Japanese Embassy, wanting to avoid triggering an international incident, officially promised that Taylor Swift would be able to take a break from her Japanese Eras Tour to make it to the Super Bowl in time to watch her boyfriend play.
This is an enormous amount of global attention any single person can receive in a two week period. So much so that, while watching the game, it was common among some in the audience to criticize her for getting all this attention since she’s just a pop star.
Especially just a pop star who is outshining the NFL on their big day.
Though I’m sure the NFL was happy to get the spillover effect since Taylor’s brief cameo appearance at this year’s Super Bowl was the most watched TV broadcast since the US moon landing in 1969.
At just 34 years old, she has been active in the music industry for almost 60% of her life, being the youngest artist, at 14, ever signed to Sony. In that time she has amassed a self-made fortune around $1.1 Billion, ranking her, as an individual, among the top 500 US small cap stocks.
In the US alone, her Eras Concert tour generated over $5 Billion in economic value, making her a globally ranked contributor to GDP:
Despite her being such a prime example of America’s economic and cultural might, many of the supposedly patriotic among us are not happy with her.
In the US, the right wing paranoid set is specifically wound up with conspiracy theories that the mythological Deep State orchestrated the Kansas City Chief’s annually repeated great performance, just so Travis Kelce can reach the Super Bowl, just so Taylor Swift can be there, to… ask her fans to vote for Biden?
Seriously?
The Lilliputians in the GOP are now so desperate to make everything into a conspiracy theory that it appears the entire conservative movement has descended into little more than a swarm of indoctrinated losers circle jerking in an echo chamber.
But can you blame them for their jealousy? She was supposed to be one of them. Having started as a young country singer she was clearly designed by the heavenly father himself to sing only about flags and motherhood.
Conservative Man-o-sphere to Taylor:
“You belong TO me”
Even in China, there is a growing Conservative backlash against ambitious feminism with the hope they can combat their declining birth rate. Among young women there with the audacity to simply want to express themselves, Taylor has become a symbol of rebellion against the old Culture Daddy’s grounding vibes.
So perhaps all these increasingly irrelevant old men just have Bad Blood about her evolving so quickly beyond the limits imposed on her.
They are so angry to see her become a strong, independent self-made woman who won’t back down from any man trying to hold her down, including expertly outmaneuvering sleazy Wall Street style shenanigans to seize control of her brand.
With her undeniable track record, Taylor Swift is sure to shake off all the haters in the stands on her path to world domination.
Btw, the true conspiracy theory is if Taylor Swift wanted to make a political move she would just declare herself Queen. (LOLz) And it would probably work, given the alternatives.
Those descended from the UK Commonwealth seem to miss the Queen and are comfortable being led by a powerful woman.
If it is our fate as Americans to be led by celebrities and entertainers, including some with monarchist flirtations, perhaps we should just pick one who is actually good at running a global business, and managing a personal brand, without imploding. Despite everything thrown at her.
